When the Vuitton suitcase and trunk factory celebrated its 150th birthday in 2004, they organized an invention competition among their employees. Whoever came up with the most brilliant idea for an extravagant suitcase won. One of the winners was the cake-box, but this one is even better. Take a look on what's inside...
This is Louis Vuitton's first original shower-trunk, inspired by the explorers of the 19th century. The design by Jimmy Minodier was meant to be something like the trunk bed, used by travelers and chauffeurs during the Belle Epoque and the roaring twenties. This convenient device is foldable, relatively light and completely eco-friendly. (Not that we care about that, but nonetheless it's still pretty nice!) It measures 69 by 69 by 145 centimeters. When you open the trunk, you can fold the front side away and raise the shower curtain. The water is heated by solar panels. Sadly the trunk does not have a water reservoir and needs to be hooked up to a water pump. You'll need to have a source of water, so no traveler will be able to use this amazing piece of work in the Sahara.The trunk has a teak floor an a little teak threshold. The old fashioned plumbing and the rainforest-showerhead can be activated by pulling a simple chain. The exterior is coated with the original Louis Vuitton monogram Canvas.
Just imagine yourself. Traveling those last deserted places on the globe. Just like an explorer in the movies. Being able to take a shower in one of these...
